Burley House

Whitcher Wildlife Ltd carried out an initial ecology survey and daytime bat inspection to support a planning application for the conversion of a large old hall and its associated outbuildings in West Yorkshire.

The survey did not identify any existing bat field signs but identified roosting potential within all of the buildings on the site. Therefore further dusk emergence and dawn swarming bat surveys were recommended in line with the BCT Good Practice Guidelines.

The surveys also indentified the presence of one invasive non native plant species within the grounds of the building, Cotoneaster, and the presence of several areas used as nesting sites by various species of bird.

Work is ongoing to carry out dusk emergence and dawn swarming bat surveys of the buildings to establish accurately whether bats are present on the site.
