TSB, Bridge 46, Deans Green

Whitcher Wildlife Ltd were commissioned to carry out great crested newt surveys of several ponds surrounding bridge 46 on the TSB railway line in Warwickshire. The surveys identified a population of great crested newts in several of the ponds in close proximity to the bridge structure.

A Natural England licence was obtained by Whitcher Wildlife Ltd to cover the works. We supervised the erection of amphibian fencing around the compound and works areas and carried out amphibian trapping. On completion of the trapping the site compound was set up and the works to replace the bridge commenced.

Whitcher Wildlife Ltd carried out site checks throughout the works to ensure the amphibian fencing remained intact and were on call for any problems encountered. The amphibian fencing will remain in place until the spring 2017 at which point it will be carefully removed and the works under the licence will be completed.
