Park Lane

Whitcher Wildlife Ltd was commissioned by to carry out a badger survey of a section of railway line near Ramsden Heath, Essex. This is due to the safety of the railway line being affected and the requirement for meshing and stabilization works to be carried out.

The survey identified fourteen badger setts within the railway boundary and the immediately surrounding area. The badger setts need to be excluded under Natural England licence prior to the works on site commencing.

We have constructed two artificial badger setts on the site to provide the badgers with alternative setts once the natural setts have been excluded, these setts are now in use by the badgers and are beginning to naturalise back into the vegetation on the railway embankments.

A Natural England licence has been obtained to exclude the badger setts and the railway embankments have been cleared of vegetation and meshed with one-way exclusion gates tied into the mesh over the sett entrances. The exclusion works on the site are ongoing.
